Inspiration in a French Cafe

  • Tommorow I journey to a writer's retreat called: "Is God Calling Me to Write?". It is an overnight gig. Anything to avoid actually writing, right?
Actually I'm proud of myself this week. I was meeting some friends at a little french cafe' and thought it would be tres chic to write prior to their arrival. I ended up checking my emails. But after they left, I still had some time on my hands before I had to be at my next destination. I just kept replaying that movie in my head and I actually got nine...yes nine scenes fairly well worked out and on paper! The characters are beginning to lead me and not the other way around..and I think that is where success may come in.
So I will continue to read through Viki King's book. I didn't do all the writing exercises about developing extensive expose's on the characters, but I layed the foundation on my main ones. The theme is a bit muddied in my mind, but that too I believe will come out soon.
I even tried out a new work out DVD that involved street dancing. It was like salsa dancing on acid. I felt a bit silly at first trying to keep up, especially with my husband glancing over occasionally and laughing, but in the end it was energizing and liberating. Not to mention it burned a few stubborn calories.
If I can bring those two together, I'm going to be in the best shape of my life.
Working out and eating right is great exercise for the body and writing and story-telling is wonderful exercise for the soul. Both are hard at first, but if you get in the zone, in the end your absolutely invigorated!
So I'm off to read my book while workin' that air-climber. Too much too soon?
