  • Sunna Wehrmeijer started taking piano lessons at the age of 5. She started composing pieces for piano from the age of 11, of which several were published on two cd’s in the Netherlands in 2000.

In 2004 and 2005 she won several public and jury prices at the UvA Cultural Festival in Amsterdam, in the categories Singer Songwriter and Cabaret.

She studied at the Utrecht School of Art, Media, and Technology, the Netherlands, and got a Bachelor of Music with Honors and a Master of Arts in Composition in Context. Through the years she started focussing on film-music.

Sunna lives in Los Angeles, where she’s just finished the Filmscoring Program at the UCLA Extension. At UCLA she was taught by many great Filmcomposers, like Garry Schyman and Lennie Moore. She also took classes with Christopher Young (Spiderman 3, Swordfish, Ghost Rider).

She is currently doing several internships, which include interning for Jim Dooley at Remote Control (Emmy award winning composer for Pushing Daisies). She is also picked to be one of the interns for the 2008 Society of Composers and Lyricists Mentorship Program.

She received a grant from the vandenEnde Foundation (Netherlands) to complete the Filmscoring Program.

This year she has already scored two films. The feature film ‘Karma; Crime, Passion, Reincarnation’, directed by M Sjahjehan, debuted at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The short film ‘Waiting for the Miracle’ by director Jason Avalos played on the 2008 Short Film Festival in Cannes.
