Why are there so few women writers working at the top end of the film industry? Help us explore that question and get a glimpse of the new young writers and projects that have come as a result of a Skillset-funded project for female screenwriters.
Noting how rare it is to see ‘screenplay by’ a female writer, BEV and The Script Factory set out to redress this balance. Last year the two organisations joined forces to launch She Writes, funded by Skillset and Scottish Screen and offering the UK's most promising up-and-coming female writing talent a year-long script development programme.
With a keynote introduction by Liz Karlsen (producer, Made in Dagenham), BAFTA are co-hosting an evening where we will present the She Writers, followed by a celebratory performed reading of one of the completed screenplays: Grace Banks and Kate Bingham's comedy Saint Joan.
A chance to meet the next generation of female writing talent who look set to bring great stories to a big screen soon.
Tickets are Free for BAFTA Members and £6 for the public.
