He’s placed in the top 5% twice in the Nicholl Fellowship screenwriting competition, successfully graduated from the UCLA’s Screenwriting Program and is a long time TSMG member. He has optioned 3 of his scripts in the past year and is on track to option a fourth! None other than David W Cooper will be hosting TSMG’s ‘I Want To Win! - Nicholl Fellowship Brush-Up Feat. David Trottier’, an informative and interactive 4hrs of insight into the exciting world of Screenwriting education and competition.
Join us at 1:00pm on Sunday, April 21st, 2012 at the National Film Board of Canada downtown Toronto (Richmond and John) where we’ll be discussing the topics below and encourage all who have interest to ensure you don’t miss this - we’re trying to help you WIN!
David will be on hand to give an insider's overview of the UCLA Screenwriters program and his personal experience before, during and after successfully graduating. Answering your questions and concerns the best he can, with the help of some friends of course! Also present will be Jeff Wood, also a graduate of the UCLA Professional Screenwriting program. Jeff also holds his masters in Screenwriting from University of California, Riverside and also recently finished the Zaki Gordon program in filmmaking. Jeff will be able to give an overview of these programs and how they helped him move ahead.
With a winning attitude and the right script, you can place in the Nicholl Fellowship just like David did in 2008, 2009, and 2010. (Keep in mind that any script that hits the top 5% gets information sent to a list of production companies that request this information) We’ll be discussing the ins and outs of the Nicholl Fellowship, including how to ensure your submission is at its best and most ready state. Joining us will be David Trottier, who has sold, optioned, and developed numerous screenplays & stories for The Walt Disney Company, Jim Henson Pictures, Hill Fields (for ABC television) and New Century Pictures. Titles include Igor's Revenge (produced), The Muppet's Hockey Movie—The Comeback Kids, The New Musketeers, and A Window in Time. Co-wrote and co-produced the cult comedy, Hercules Recycled. More recently, he wrote A Penny Promise (produced; winner of awards at two film festivals) and sold Hemingway's Twin, an inspiring story about the Hemingway women.
