Most people these days ask themselves whether VFX and CGI are the same things or not. The quick answer is no. VFX and CGI are not the same thing. VFX stands for Visual Effects and is used to create realistic simulated environments, special effects, and other elements that can't be captured with a camera.

On the other hand, CGI stands for Computer-Generated Imagery and is used to create synthetic objects and characters that don't exist in the real world. While VFX and CGI are both used in the filmmaking process, they are two distinct techniques.

Even though both VFX and CGI are used to create the best scene, they are not the same. As you can see, each of them does something different, even though they do share some common applications in film and video.
