I've had the chance to become a RED Camera Tech by simply going through a one day RED workshop at a rental house 2 years ago.
Shortly after the workshop, a RED DIT job opening came up, and I got the gig...
Since then, I've done RED Tech and D.I.T. gigs for MTV, a short film, and several music videos.
If anyone's looking to further their career in the Camera department, these RED One workshops are definitely worth checking out:

When I first opened FCP...I was like... O__O buttons!? It's too complex...waaaay to complex...you need months, maybe even YEARS to be able to do something in FCP...and you surely needs lots of years till you can reach at least 50 % of its full potential. >.<"
Premiere Pro on the other side...it's more user friendly (to say so) so it's a good start if you are a student...you can get scared of FCP...hey, I did. XD
