I heard that FCP is used in movies, and is a complex program, even though I never got to actually use it, or at least see it. Someone told me that the big battle is between Avid and FCP, which are some of the "big guys", such as the Hollywood movies, and so on...so I think that for amateurs like us Premiere Pro is better suited for a student (and cheapest, if you use the licensed version).
