    Hi all

I was a newspaper printer for 16 odd years.

I recently started making shorts (very very shorts):

    I know their crappy.

But you have to start somewhere yeah?

How do people work with others via this site?

Do people who use this site meet and work with each other at all?

    Thanks all.

Here I was thinking, "I'm the only Australian here."

Yes, you have to start somewhere.

How does this site work? I think it tends to work best if you're in the States, particularly NYC. Especially if you can go to the workshops and stuff advertised. Does it work for me being overseas? Sometimes, I haven't worked with or met anyone from this site though. I do get to hear things that I wouldn't hear in the Australian industry. Kim writes a hello once in a while which is nice (he's the dude who's running this show).

As filmmakers, IMHO, the world should be your industry, not just coz you're living in Oz, that it should be the Australian one. Besides, I've gotten more interest in my shorts from filmmakers (and compliments too!) State-side, than Australia (figure that one out!). Though I think you've got that idea already being here.

    Hey there,

First of all, nice start! Do you have a tripod? It can come in really handy for having still images. What camera do you have? And what editing program do you use? *just askin' * http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/1.gif" mce_src="http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/1.gif" width="18" height="18">

I remembered when I first opened Movie Maker some years ago, when I was using my parents PC (overall it was ok for networking and writing, it was ok for some games, but NOT so ok for pro editing programs...low resources I guess...) and I started making GIF's using the Print Screen button, YouTube and a crappy free program who could make frame by frame GIF's. I wasn't even allowed to download something in order not to get viruses in the PC (oh, the paranoia), and I was really happy when I got my own PC. http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/21.gif" mce_src="http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/21.gif" width="18" height="18"> I had the chance to try Final Cut Pro and Avid (but not on my PC), Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, Adobe After Effects, Edius and the list goes on...right now I use Sony Vegas Pro 9.0, mostly because I got attached to it (getting attached to a program...makes any sense? XD) and sometimes Adobe After Effects, and even PhotoShop for frame to frame editing for stuffs I can't do with Vegas.

In the world of computers, networking is the practice of linking two or more computing devices together for the purpose of sharing data. Networks are built with a mix of computer hardware and computer software. Networks can be categorized in several different ways. One approach defines the type of network according to the geographic area it spans. Local area networks (LANs), for example, typically reach across a single home, whereas wide area networks (WANs), reach across cities, states, or even across the world. The Internet is the world's largest public WAN.

Computer networks also differ in their design. The two types of high-level network design are called client-server and peer-to-peer. Client-server networks feature centralized server computers that store email, Web pages, files and or applications. On a peer-to-peer network, conversely, all computers tend to support the same functions. Client-server networks are much more common in business and peer-to-peer networks much more common in homes.

A network topology represents its layout or structure from the point of view of data flow. In so-called bus networks, for example, all of the computers share and communicate across one common conduit, whereas in a star network, all data flows through one centralized device. Common types of network topologies include bus, star, ring and mesh. If you want to get some more autnentic and unique infromation about networking, then you must try cheap web hosting services as well.

Structure, Structure, Structure people - I can't stress how important it is: crazy how they're all structured the same way ( see http://www.clickok.co.uk/index4.html ).

Anyone want to meetup in NYC this week to drink beer and talk film?
