The biggest advantage of owning a drone under 250 g is that you don’t have to register it. However, weight is not the only aspect you need to be aware of. There are other regulations that still apply. In the US, drones are considered UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle).
Here are a few regulations that you need to be aware of:
1. Never fly your drone near another aircraft
2. Never fly your drone after consuming alcohol or drugs
3. Always stay below 400 ft above the ground level (or the maximum height allowed for that specific area)
4. Always keep a safe distance when flying over people.
5. Never fly over crowds. Big groups of people cannot move away quickly because of their number and other people around them. Examples of such crowds are: sports events, marches and rallies, music festivals and concerts, etc.
I will be honest with you guys. I did not know there were these rules, because I heard everyone talking that if you own a drone under 250g, you do not have to worry about regulations.
I talked with many drone owners and most of them have the same idea, that they don't have to worry about any rules just because of the weight limit. This is a common misconception.
I do not know if the same rules apply to my country as well. I live in Thailand.
I never thought about the 5'th rule. I saw many videos which ignored it from festivals.

same
I guess that it would be easier if I would consider that flying your drone is similar to driving a car
I truly had no idea that if I drink a beer I can't fly a drone.
I really need to update my knowledge about drones...some of these rules were new to me but as I started to research them online, I found even more.
