There are two opening shots I previously took high on Mont Blanc with a Canon HF-10, There's also an iPhone sequence of bell-ringing at the St. Bernard Hospice. There's one stock photo, some open-source foley & some royalty-free music.
I made everything else in this video with a Canon Elph point-&-shoot.
I Ken Burns-ed stills I took of images from the book, used movie-mode to shoot video of the girls reading & on a Via Ferrata. I recorded the voice-over by shooting a video of the girls reading by flashlight under a duvet, then discarding the picture track in edit (a radio producer taught me the quilt trick to get decent sound without good facilities). Andrea recorded herself playing the harpsichord with an iTouch.
I shot the girls in the 15-minute increments between school & music lessons, ski club & bedtime--pretty much one take is all I could get. less
