Students of MDIA 419 are responsible for everything needed to make a movie, from writing the script, fundraising, collecting equipment, finding locations, filming, and editing, all by the end of the school year.
The film is called Trailerpark, and is based on a collection of stories by best-selling author, Russell Banks, whose other books The Sweet Hereafter and Affliction have been adapted into award winning films.
The Trailerpark crew has over 70 OU students coming from five schools in two different colleges in the University.
Filming began on January 24th, at locations both around Ohio and in Northern Michigan. Filming will wrap on April 26.
The movie will premiere at Ohio University's Memorial Auditorium on June 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
The movie will also be showing at the Lake Placid Film Forum.
