Thanks, Kim.
We got enough of response for now to process but will keep in mind for the future
If you are:
→ Eager to carve your way into the industry with your own films on your own terms;
→ Up to building a film production company and a brand from scratch;
→ Looking for a team who would get behind your project, and in turn supporting the projects of others;
..then read on!
We are in the early stages of founding a production company which will provide us with the framework, as well as the raw manpower and pooled resources necessary, to realise our own film projects. Our aim is to establish a brand and a collective proud to identify with it, capable of securing reasonable budgets for our ventures, and containing a variety of talents, interests and approaches.
We will initially be focusing on documentaries with a view of also crossing into fiction once it becomes viable. For now, the priority is to expand our portfolio with films we want to make that require minimal funding, as well as building relationships with funders, commissioners, distributors, and, last but not least, audiences themselves. We have just secured all of the funding to complete our second and third documentary shorts. Besides our company's projects, we also help each other stay afloat by sharing information on freelance gigs and job opportunities.
Currently there are three of us with various experience in different fields, but generally jack-of-all-trades filmmakers orientated towards documentary. There's no limit to the form though as we are equally interested in an experimental and artistic approach, just as we are in Current Affairs style investigations or innovative Reality TV. Our aim is to explore, illuminate and reflect on the corners of society and the human condition, through developing narratives that retain the immediacy of current events, and as seen through the personal, intimate lens and experience of the unique characters involved.
We are London based but much of our interest lies beyond the UK. Apart from the UK, we have already been shooting in Ukraine and the Netherlands, and our next shoot is planned in Morocco.
The people we are after should be serious, enthusiastic, ambitious, and willing to work hard towards a common goal. Geographical location is not important for the right person.
We are especially looking for (but not limited to) these three profiles, or some combination of these skills:
→ Finance person, preferably economics/business student or graduate, good with fiscal discipline and assessing sources of finance – while, of course, still interested in film or a filmmaker themselves
→ A Producer type, extroverted, outgoing, "wired into social fabric", as well as having good administrative and management skills
→ Post-production guru: creatively technical, interested in cutting-edge technologies, quick editor, maybe 3D or VFX artist, or good with colour science / grading etc
Your position in the company will be a full partner once we incorporate. You'll find your place within the team according to your skills and interests, but expect to be doing a little bit of everything - roles can be rotated depending on the project and individual inclinations. If the idea and our ethos resonate with you then please get in touch: conf-disf@ritmika.info or PM.
